Should You Purchase Your Glasses Online?

In today's world, where more and more consumers have become accustomed to shopping for anything and everything on the Web, eyeglasses are one product that should be carefully considered before you click that buy button. Here's why. Even though web-based optical dealers often promote reduced prices, the benefits of choosing an optician far outweigh the ''deals'' you might get online.

A persuasive reason for purchasing your glasses at an eye wear store rather than online is that you have an experienced optician to guide you through the process. Our staff can walk you through the numerous variables you need to consider in selecting a pair of glasses. In instances where you purchase through the Internet, you forgo the experienced input of an eye care expert.

Since every person has a unique head shape, it is difficult to find the proper fit for glasses without trying them on. An optometrist will take your measurements and assist you in choosing a pair of eyeglasses that fit you just right and won't cause discomfort. Frames that are not wide enough will pinch the sides of your head, while frames that are too big can quickly fall off the bridge of your nose. Online optical stores may give tips, however it is challenging to try and fit yourself.

Beyond the fit and feel of your glasses, good eyesight requires correct Pupillary Distance calculation. The optical focus of your lenses provides you the truest vision, making it essential to properly calculate the pupillary distance, or PD. It can be tricky to assess your PD by on your own, but without this measurement, your lenses won't be placed properly in the frames.

True, Web-based buying is often perfect for other purchases, but with glasses you're best off sticking to your local optometry center where you are able to benefit from the staff expertise and advice.
