I walked in here because of the yelp reviews and I was glad I did.
They have a small but well edited selection of frames. I found some frames I loved that were brands I had never heard of. The staff is very helpful. I had someone picking out frames for me and she did an excellent job of finding frames that would fit my face shape. - Sabina K. 2/14/2012
I've been a patient since 2005, and I have even recommended my Mom here and she loves going here as well. Dr. Lim is such a cool Optometrist, he's not those typical "business" only with no personality kind of Doctor, very pleasant and sports fan too! Hehe.
My recent visit, I was assisted by Cindy, as soon as she picked me up she says right away "Welcome back Jeffrey," very cordial and out of the ordinary. I was then transferred to an exam where you press a button every time you see a blurry pop up. Then they take a couple more exams, and once you're done Dr. Lim will then see you, dilate your pupils and do further high tech exams. He'll write out your prescription and then Cindy picked me up to look at frames. They have a variety of frames to choose from, from within your insurance's coverage, or high end frames if you want to splurge. This time around, I went within my coverage and added coating to avoid glare when working on the computer.

It is always a great experience to go to Berryessa Optometry and see Dr. Mac and the entire staff. Dr. Mac explains everything to us and give us the best options for us and our insurance coverage. I have to say, after this year's round of check-ups (contacts and glasses), I remain a loyal and happy patient of Dr. Mac and Berryessa Optometry's. Doc Mac is incredibly thorough and conversational, the latter of which is hard to find in a doctor. (And, I'm also a nursing student, so I've dealt with my fair share of crappy doctors.) He tells me what to watch out for, and I appreciate that.
At the same time, the front desk receptionists are always so nice. It makes you feel like the docs are very conscious of the image that they put out, and believe me, the patients appreciate it. Dr. Mac wrangled with my insurance company and filled out a pen-and-paper chart just to change my vision plan to accomodate for "medical necessity". Didn't have to pay for my contacts this year! They were so incredibly nice. The two people at the front desk were super nice and accommodating. The technician was really nice. They were using really high tech stuff that I've never seen before. The place looked very bright, clean, classy, and modern.
Dr. Lim was super amazing; really friendly, talkative, informative, very thorough, and an answered all my questions with a bright smile.
The person who help me selected my glass frames was really nice and give me a lot of choices to choose from. She helped me slowly narrow down my choices and even tried to find a more rare glass frame for me.

I use yelp almost daily but have never been moved to actually write a review...until now. I love this optometry practice! I myself am a physician and am highly critical of healthcare services and would recomend this place to anyone. Finallllly, after getting insurance, I am able to get glasses! I made an appoint online and was scheduled asap. On the day of my appointment I called to let them know I was running a little late, and they said it was no problem and even gave me directions from where I was. (I was lost at the time!) I got there and they already had everything ready for me. A few minutes later I met with Dr. Mac and he is great! He really made me feel comfortable around and allowed myself to talk about whatever. He let me know that I had a slight chance of glaucoma but it wasn't for sure since I'm still pretty young. He also let me know that I actually have astigmatism. He let me know what type of glasses I should probably get and before I knew it, I was seeing better with my new glasses! I really enjoy this place, and would recommend it. Christine N. 9/13/2011
I think I'm in love!! After many years of sitting in front of the computer for work and school, I found myself squinting more frequently and unable to see many things from far away. I knew I needed to get my eyes checked ASAP.
I normally do not like writing reviews for places that do not involve food, but I couldn't help it this time. Whenever I feel very strongly about a place (whether good or bad), I just have to review!
Of course, every optometry's office contains the same - staff, doctors, glasses, etc. What really differs from location to location is the customer service! The customer service for this place deserves an A++++. Whether you call on the phone to schedule an appointment, the moment you walk in, or when you're picking/fitting your specs; the amount of warm and sincere energy you get is fabulous!
No matter how many times I called with questions or asked the front desk during one of my appointments, they helped me with the upmost courtesy and as if I was the first person they've helped all day.
If you are in need of getting your eyes checked or unsatisfied with your current optometry, definitely definitely come to Berryessa Optometry!! Amy L. 5/13/2011
I am the daughter of two optometrists, so I KNOW optometrists! Having recently moved to the Bay Area, I needed to find a local optometrist. Knowing of his reputation, my optometrist mom handpicked Dr. Lim as her recommendation. I must say (sorry Mom and Dad) that this was the best eye care experience ever!
FAST: After check-in, I was immediately greeted by a staff member who took me directly to pre-testing for the start of my exam.
STAFF: The entire staff is friendly and very professional. When choosing frames, I had a lot of options and was having difficulty finalizing my selection. Several of the staff joined the process and helped me make my final decision.
DR. LIM: He's the best! Super professional and intelligent and also extremely caring (great people skills). I didn't feel rushed during my eye exam (which can sometimes be intimidating during the "which is better, 1 or 2" part as I tend to take forever to make up my mind).
CLEAN: The office is bright and clean and the staff wipes down all eye equipment frequently which left me, the germo-phobe, relieved - Hayley M. 10/25/2010
Wow!!! I had been going to LensCrafters for the last few years, Boy! What a switch!! Dr. Lim is sooo down to earth and personable, Isabella was a Real Sweetheart too!! My husband and daughter also went to visit all of you and you were sooo patient and my 4 yr.old daughter can't wait to go back to see her 'Eye Doc' as she says. Got myself a cool pair of glasses and sunglasses, great selection, great people, moderate prices,great customer service. What more can you ask for. If you are Not a patient- YOU SHOULD BE!! "Dr. Lim is the ultimate professional when it comes to eye care. I've been seeing Dr. Lim for roughly 7 years now, and have been extremely pleased with his entire office. The front office staff is very attentive both on the phone and in person. The office is a comfortable setting, and their selection of frames is large. "I've gone here for a few years, already. Dr. Mac is very friendly. He shows lots of concern for his patients. I have diabetes, as well as the hubby. He always suggests things we could do to improve our health, not just our eyesight, which diabetes can greatly effect. The y do about three or four different tests on your eyes, and that's before you go in to see the optometrist. Their frame selection is very good. Lots of high-end brands, some lower costing ones. Frames are pretty much the only thing I wear in terms of names brands. Last time I got Calvin Klein eyeglasses and Oakley sunglasses. This time around, I'm ordering Hugo Boss and another pair of Oakleys. They have Fendi, Dior, Coach, YSL, also, for you brand lovers ;-) So, they're a little pricey. If you've got a flexible spending card through your work, at least you buy them pre-tax. Dr. Mac even convinced me to consider contacts. I've always worn glasses, at least since I was in 6th grade (so most of my life). But he suggested if I wear contacts casually, I could get some disposals. The staff is always friendly, as well. From the front desk, to the assistants helping me fit for glasses! Oh, the kicker, and most genius thing that ever happened to me...Dr. Mac gave me one-day disposals to use while I was trying on frames! If you've shopped for glasses before, it sucks trying them on without your vision. Your face is right up against the mirror, just to see how they look on you! Not this time around. Kudos to that!!!! "I have been visiting Dr. Mac for 2 years now. I was introduced to him while I was in optometry school. He's a specialist in my condition, and fit me into special contact lenses. Dr. Mac also gives very personal care and he carefully explains each step he takes. The front desk takes care of insurance authorizations very well, and I had no trouble getting the necessary special lenses I needed. The staff in this office are very friendly and helpful. "So, I've been a patient here since I could possibly remember even get my eyes checked out. Dr. Lim is an AWESOME optometrist who is very helpful. I have very difficult eyes that are extremely dry, and I was looking for contacts that would work with my eyes, and there were NO lenses that I was feeling comfortable with; They went dry and gave me a headache after 5 minutes of wearing them.
